The Team
We are a Hamburg-based team inside Adobe Cloud Platform & Collaboration (ACPC). We own the backend platform for live collaboration, asynchronous eventing, cloud-native file formats, and large-scale file storage. Products like Photoshop, Firefly, Express, and the Document Cloud run on top of our APIs. High traffic, latency-sensitive, on the critical path of nearly every Adobe creative workflow.
We build it, we ship it, we run it.
What You Will Do
Solve concrete engineering problems around latency, throughput, consistency, data durability, and storage cost
Own parts of the system end-to-end, from design through production rollout
Shape the team's technical direction through design reviews, prototypes, and honest debate
Use modern development practices and AI-assisted tooling to keep the iteration loop tight and the quality bar high
Participate in incident response and drive the follow-up fixes
Collaborate with partner teams across Hamburg, the US, and India
What We Look For
Several years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning non-trivial systems in production
Curiousity: you dig into unfamiliar systems and keep asking why until you hit the root cause
Teamplayer, comfortable giving and taking direct feedback
Strong programming skills, ideally Java
Clear, direct communication in German and English
Nice to have
Working knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and a major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
Hands-on experience with Spring, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB, and message queues
Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus
Experimenting with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code)
