At Glassdoor, one of our missions is to help companies promote their employer brand and employer transparency to employees and job candidates alike. One of the best ways to do this is by becoming an OpenCompany, a signal to job seekers that your organization is committed to transparency. Companies earn an OpenCompany badge by keeping their Glassdoor profile updated, responding to reviews, linking to Glassdoor from their careers page and other actions. By becoming an OpenCompany, organizations:
  • Differentiate themselves from competitors
  • Increase their company and brand exposure throughout Glassdoor
  • Ensure their profile stays updated
What are you waiting for? For inspiration, check how the following organizations, everyone an OpenCompany, are embracing transparency in their efforts to impress, influence and hire great talent. 1. Chipotle Chipotle makes it their mission to share and promote the freshness and healthiness of their food. Similarly, they believe showcasing the quality of their workplace is important, too, to attract and retain great talent. One OpenCompany prerequisite Chipotle follows is linking to their Glassdoor profile from their career site. This simple move pays big dividends because it helps candidates learn more about their company—for example, reviews by former employees—as they search for jobs.

2. eHarmony At Glassdoor, we hope to achieve a perfect match between company and employee. Similarly, eHarmony helps clients find romantic partners using a series of questions and building an engaging profile. To give job seekers a peek into its culture, eHarmony highlights their company mission on their careers page and links to their Glassdoor profile, where candidates can learn more about eHarmony's culture and company details.

3. DocuSign DocuSign has a noteworthy Glassdoor profile featuring a 4.2 star rating, Company Updates and awesome company photos. So it makes sense to showcase this to job seekers, right? In addition to proudly linking to their Glassdoor profile from their careers page, DocuSign's Director of Employment Brand Marketing takes the time to respond to Glassdoor reviews. 69% agree their perception of a company improves after seeing an employer respond to a review, making this a crucial step of our OpenCompany program.

4. Polyvore Besides listing open jobs, Polyvore’s career page allows candidates to sign up for job alerts and view updates of submitted applications. Offering these key resources in one place can simplify your application process. That’s a good start. Linking to your Glassdoor profile can seal the deal with candidates, who can then prep for interviews by reading interview reviews left by prior candidates. Polyvore also shares photos on their Glassdoor profile, highlighting what makes them such a great place to work.

How to stand out On your Glassdoor profile, in the spirit of transparency, remember to give your target candidates a 360-degree view of what makes your company special and the right fit. Whether it’s responding to reviews (“the employer perspective”) from current employees, “Why Work For Us” messaging or noting your benefits and perks, candidates appreciate a robust, fleshed out profile. And going after your OpenCompany badge is a surefire way to start fleshing out your profile, which will then build that important trust with potential candidates.
