My copywriter and I have been applying abroad for months. Visa sponsorship and timing make it genuinely hard. Now a local agency came to us with a promotion and about 25% raise. Hard to ignore. We're also sitting on work that's won recently and could pick up metals at Cannes. So the dilemma now is: do we keep pushing abroad while the momentum's there? Or take the offer, build another year, and try again from a stronger position? Anyone been here before?
I have absolutely crippling anxiety about getting laid off. I have felt this way at every job I’ve held. I’m not bad at my job. Dare I say I’m even pretty good at it, with the hardware to prove it. I’m an ACD and I’m terrified these insecurities will eventually stall me out before I reach CD. How do I get over it?
What's your favorite subject line to use when cold emailing CDs your book?
Bud Light sponsoring that disgusting UFC White House stunt 🤮 Their logo in the background of that racist transphobic guy screaming “Michelle Obama is a man”. I never drank that piss when they were “pro pride” anyway but still gross to see.
Serious question. Are there any agencies left that aren’t drinking the AI-Generated performance marketing Kool Aid? You know, like ones doing actual concepts? Seems like there are a few left. Mischief, Opinionated, Rethink, maybe Goodby. Who else am I missing?
Make sure they like you and your dynamic. If they’re talking to you, they already like your work. Your personalities and shared ambition are the final piece of the puzzle.
I would do research on the agency and the work they're doing. I would also do research on the CCO and see what work they've done, so you can bring that up as work you admire (even if you don't) and the style of work you want to be doing. Be yourselves and show that you have chemistry and get excited about the role and what you can bring to it. Ask what they're looking for in a team and what would make you successful. Good luck!
If I’m talking to you it means you’ve probably already passed the technical stuff/experience/work check. What I’m looking for is the vibe check, chemistry, personality, personal drive, passion for the work, communication skills.
