I got a rejection letter today that was actually personalized. It mentioned my specific portfolio pieces and thanked me for the conversation. It was such a shock to be treated like a human being that I almost wanted to email them back and ask them to hire me for a different role just because they were nice. Have you had any positive rejection experiences?
Can we talk about something uncomfortable? Has unemployment ever affected your confidence? Not just professionally but socially too. Like being around friends or family and feeling a little smaller than you used to. Avoiding certain conversations. I don’t know if it’s just me, but sometimes it feels like unemployment chips away parts of your confidence you never expected. Has anyone else experienced this?
If you’ve been unemployed for a long time especially over a year, how have you honestly survived? Financially, mentally, emotionally because it’s not easy. I think people underestimate how much resilience it takes to keep going through uncertainty for that long. Share your real tips. Gigs? Support systems? Budgeting? Mindset shifts? Anything that genuinely helped you stay afloat.
Mixed. Have had some great interactions that have been productive. Then also experienced ghosting after THEY approached ME. So frustrating! With how difficult the job search already is, I can’t imagine somebody adding more hassle to it.
YES! That one drives me crazy. If you were that busy, why are you still sending out messages? Focus on somebody else because I’m done with you, now 😂
Personally I've been ghosted to many times. Sometimes I'm tempted to reach out and follow up but I hold myself.
