I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ALDI (Birmingham, England) in Jan 2016
Interview
I attended the store for an initial interview with the Area Manager then a few weeks later was invited for a three hour work trial.
The interview was straightforward but the work trial basically involved going in at 4am when they do the stock deliveries and running around stacking shelves and moving pallets like a maniac. I was knackered and sweating by the end of it.

Interview
I applied for the role at ALDI and heard back within approximately 1 week. I was then asked to attend a trial shift with 3 other people, which lasted for around 2 hours. After briefly going over health and safety regulations, we were asked to have a go at "carding" (removing loose card) the shop floor, and putting out some stock. Having worked at ALDI for 3 years now, I think they were looking for speed and ability to get along with colleagues during this shift. The next day, I was asked to attend a group interview which lasted about 1-2 hours in total. The interview was held in the staff room, and was mainly a discussion of ALDI as a company and their values, as well as general discussions of how to deal with certain situations in a retail environment. To prepare for this interview, it is important to know as much about the company as possible - the interviewer will ask open questions to the group, and the more you know, the better. We asked to write a brief statement in 60 seconds about why we felt we were perfect for the role, whilst avoiding cliches. We also were asked to participate in a short maths test of 2 minutes, whereby the questions focus on amounts of "change" given. Although I did not do well with this, I explained that I do struggle with maths but only when under pressure and when not dealing with physical money, and that in the scenario on the till I would be fine. Given my past cash handling experience, I think the interviewer gave me the benefit of the doubt. At the end of the interview, three of us were asked to remain behind and have one-to-one interviews. During this section, I was asked about the maths test, and more broadly about my wishes for the future and about my home life, childhood and family.

Why do you feel you would be perfect for this role?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Stafford, England) in Apr 2016
Interview
I filled in the online application and recieved an email inviting me to a one on one interview at the store I was applying for. I got several days and times that I could have chosen from. I attended my interview and didn't really get asked many questions, it was more along the lines of being told about the store, etc. I then recieved an email a week later to say that they didn't have a vacancy available for me, so I felt like it was a waste of my time.
