Competence test, and cognitive test. One technical interview, one nontechnical. I was asked questions about resume and experience of working in a team. Overall a pleasant experience and nice people.
I completed a recorded interview challenge, but I found that some of the questions didn’t seem relevant to a test engineer role. The challenge included design pattern questions, which I’ve never had to use in my entire career in test automation. Despite preparing thoroughly and solving the coding challenge, I was informed that I didn’t pass.
It feels as though the test might not be tailored to evaluate skills specific to test automation and is perhaps sent to a broader audience, including software engineers in unrelated domains. This could result in an unfair assessment for candidates with specialized expertise. I hope the company takes this feedback into account and improves their hiring process to ensure a more accurate evaluation of candidates in the future.
