      Associate Account Manager Interview

      Aug 19, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Shanghai, Shanghai
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Adyen (Shanghai, Shanghai) in Jul 2020

      Interview

I applied through company website, HR got in touch within 3 days. I have been to 5 rounds of interviews. The whole process is lengthy, in total one and half months. Overall review: Culture: Very good PR of it’s culture (Adyen formulas) and I believe they are seeking people who naturally fit its culture. This part I love a lot. People: One can immediately tell this group of people working here are intelligent and hardworking during the interview process. Meanwhile, I do want to point out, although on job description they want you to be international in your past experiences to fit the company’s culture, but naturally since the office needs employees to serve local merchants, they are expecting the candidate can also be “local". Product: One of the tops in the game, comparing to competitors probably stands out on its pricing mode, consider they are mainly serving high-volume accounts. 1st round—Zoom interview with HR : Standard first round interview. Duration: 50 mins. Overall feeling: 4/5 2nd round— Zoom interview with a team member:Questions about your profile, your understandings about payment industry. Duration: 50 mins. Overall feeling:4/5 3rd round— Zoom interview with head of the account management team: Smart questions to test you if you are a bright person and whether you are eager to learn. Duration: 50 mins. Overall feeling:5/5 4th round—Onsite interviews first with the team member and the head of the team, second with the country manager. I suppose this round was meant to meet the candidate in person and see whether this person fits the team vibe. Duration: 2 hours. Overall feeling: 4/5 5th round—Case study presentation to a panel on Zoom. It’s pretty tricky for candidates to do presentation on Zoom since you cannot see the interviewers' reactions and react properly. Duration: 1 hour. Overall feeling: 3.5/5 Two things worth mentioning in the whole process: 1. Two interviewers mentioned separately that they expect you don’t ask many questions when start. They expect you to find answers by yourself. 2. Never got the email as said here in Glassdoor, in which they would ask you if you want feedback of your interview. After the whole process of 1.5 months, my rejection email was a system email“ We have reviewed your application and that’s not what we are looking for”. With all being said, I still wish I can work for this company one day, guess this says a lot. Although its culture might have added a little twist in each region, but I do believe overall this company is on the right track on its culture and on its products. Hope this is helpful and hope every job seeker can get their ideal job :)
