I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Aug 2011
Interview
I have my final interview next week. Previously, I meet a recruiter at a Veterans Hiring Fair. I pursued her after our initial discussion. I had one phone interview with her which consisted of me telling her about a time I improved a process, my basic leadership philosophy and a review of my resume. My second interview was with an "industry professional", a senior ops manager. His questions were the same- tell me about a time you improved a process, how do you motivate, your leadership style, and a review of my resume. After some scheduling confusion, I am flying to Indianapolis for my final interview. So far I had to prepare answers to 4 simple case study questions (they ask you to spend no more than an hour working on them). Additionally, the recruiter put me in touch with 2 recent hires and 1 area manager. They all gave me great insight into the interview process and were supportive and answered all questions I had. The recruiter was supportive, and provided me lots of study material and gave constructive criticism that helps a ton. Wish me luck!
Prior to even speaking to anyone about a possible interview there was a long and lengthy testing required. Really disappointing to finish with no feedback or additional details. I only received an email post test.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Stamford, CT)
Interview
Extremely unprofessional in my opinion. Talked to 3 different people, all of whom were wearing old sweatshirts and not looking at the camera. As I was sitting on zoom in a suit jacket, did not feel at all a place I would be valued at.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Conflict between coworkers, how would you approach resolving?
All virtual. STAR interview questions (situation task action result). Think of examples of tough situations you had to deal with. I think I had 2 or 3 interviews before I got an offer. Pretty smooth process overall.
