I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials
Interview
webex interview, 2 groups of people. Pretty low key, informal description of what product was, what the job was and what gaps are looking to be filled, a good discussion back and forth. Unfortunately age questions entered into discussion. AMAT is a better company than that, so I was disappointed to have to deal with this. I hope AMAT HR reviews Glassdoor comments and reviews how it prepares people to be managers and on interview teams
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Why do you want to keep working? (i'm over 50)
How can we be sure that this job will be interesting enough so you won't retire on us?
Describe how to handle various support situations. Other than the blatant age related questions the interview was very good, other than they they never followed up after the interview to say that someone else had been selected. Sadly the age related questions tainted the whole interview since I don't know if that factored into the decision. Wake up AMAT and run your managers through what you can and can't ask at interviews
