I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ByteDance in Jan 2016
Interview
I got a phone interview with sales manager over the phone, he asked me some questions sort of sales strategy as in a tech company. Everything was going well, and he also invites me to meet with his director from China for following day. However, the interview with a director was unprofessional and disrespectful. The interview questions were out of job description.

I was reached out to buy recruiter and at the time she reached out to me I was traveling so I was not able to connect immediately we schedule time to speak about my background and how it would fit into the role at hand when I Was scheduled to return. Before even the day that we had scheduled to connect she aggressively reached out several times back to back asking about with my whereabouts and other irrelevant information - I was actually extremely sick at the time so there was a lag in response however I used all my energy to make sure that we were able
to connect. We spoke on a Wednesday evening she said that I would be contacted by the actual sales individuals at the company by no later than Monday. She was not able to give me much insight about the role and her English was very broken which made it simply hard for me to understand her. She reaches out to me several different times over the weekend about information that was not time sensitive Monday comes and goes and until this day actually she’s not made any follow up contact even the decency to say that I was not a good fit. So unprofessional and social huge waste of my time truly disappointing.
