I applied online. I interviewed at Camunda in Oct 2023
Interview
These people think they must be a FAANG company, I know the process at those companies, and the process for this company is worse by far. 1) 30 minute call with Hr, 2) a take home assignment which won't take 2 hours, it took me at least 6 hours of my time to complete. 3) ANOTHER technical screen and they will have you download their Camunda 7 server, you will hit an API, get the JSON back, and then you will need to have EXPERT knowledge of Java 8 Streams to parse the JSON. There were 5 basic challenges you had to do in the span of 90 minutes. So, if you aren't good at Java 8 Streams, don't bother. 4) if you make it past that, then a 45 minute with the hiring manager, and after that 3 more technical whiteboards with other Camunda developers. The whole process is excessive in my opinion. It shouldn't take that long, and that much to get you into this company. If you like waiting for weeks, and this very long process, then take your chances. At any point in the process they could drop you, and then all the that time and energy is wasted. And when I looked at the salary for a U.S. Citizen, it was way lower than what other jobs are offering. Ultimately, this company is not worth the time to apply for, Be warned!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1) The take home assignment was to call their API remotely, get an XML file, and load it into their 'model' object. Then you have to parse through the nodes and build a directed graph in Java. I used JGraphT for that tool. Then you have to find the shortest path from one node to another. 2) The 'hackathon' was to download their Camunda 7 server, access a local Restful API, and then use Java Streams to parse the results, and look for for data. Then once you did that, there were 4 more iterations of where they might want stuff, and this would mostly use Lambda in Java, which I also lacked.
