I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Apr 2008
Interview
Very friendly and upbeat. Pretty relaxed. There were 3 interviews, each of which was 30-45 min. 1 Behavorial, 1 Case, and 1 Job fit.
Behavorial was very typical - walk through resume
Case was quantitative math centered on profitability
Job fit was just a chat about what type of working style you prefer/have
Smooth; minicase is verbally presented; may be hard to understand depending on the interviewer. May need to ask many more questions to clarify the questions asked during the case. But overall, it is fairly easy
Three rounds of interviews, two of them are case based to assess technical knowledge (first case is relatively easy, calculation needed), one is mainly behavioural questions with the team leader
1st round was 45 mins. Simple case (profitability and basic business acumen) plus a bit of behavioural
2nd round was in-person; networking dinner the night before, and then two back to back interviews (an hour long case and a 30 min behavioural)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
For the case it was breakeven calculations and basic business questions (e.g. what are the risks and mitigations associated with this venture...)
