I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Bellevue, WA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Long, Impersonal and lightly unprofessional. Big corporation feel to the screening and interview process, including multiple screening calls and a day-long onsite interview with multiple people in a process that took about 4 weeks, resolving in a complete lack of response to a follow-up on status with two employees (recruiter and local coordinator). Interviewers ranged from very experienced professionals and great communicators to employees with limited interview skills and communication skills. Disappointing that the last interviewer seemed hyper-focused on assessing my (previously admitted) light experience with pure-software program management, but showed a lack of ability in leading a role-playing requirements development exercise when trying to do so. Extremely disappointing to invest that much time and have a company fail to respond to a professional request for a status and/or feedback. Might have just been those individuals, but they reflect on the company and the culture, which is a shame because I had heard very good things about Expedia otherwise.

Question 1
Talk about a professional experience where you had a challenging situation with a direct report, how you addressed / resolved it.
It was very smooth from the get go. I had an initial screening by an HR from Singapore, who was very grounded and genuine from the start. He also ensured I had all the preparation materials handy and helped me prepare well for the screening round. Once I cleared the screening and HR from London took over who gave me even more insights into what I can expect in the loop. She was very responsive and helpful throughout. The interviews felt like project discussions, like I was solving the problem live with the interviewers. Everyone of them made me feel like I belonged and my ideas mattered. They patiently answered all the Qs, even when we were going beyond the stated time. Interviews are about mutual decision making and being made to feel so warm and respected made me want to join Expedia and nowhere else. I am glad I am going to do so shortly 😊.
