I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Flix (München, Bayern) in Aug 2019

      Interview

I really have a mixed feeling towards this company during the whole interview process. I went from phone interview, on-site interview and final interview with the director, each time my experience is very different. Good things about FlixBus: 1. Seems the interviewers are mostly authentic and really wanted to explain the company and its operations situation to the candidates 2. Company is expanding very fast and lots of opportunities Bad things: 1. Very very very frugal - FlixBus does not even reimburse food and beverage cost incurred during candidate on-site interview travel, which is un-heard of. In addition, they require candidates to mail original receipt for reimbursement, which is costly and very old fashioned. 2. The interview process is purely a copy cat of Amazon leadership principles. They stated they use Amazon leadership principles to evaluate candidate. While Amazon leadership principle does provide insight, it is still weird that FlixBus use another company's metrics to evaluate its own candidate and makes people feel this company does not have its own culture and just copy everything from Amazon. 3. Recruiter is really bad - constant communication delays and ghosting. 4. 90% of managers are white and male. When I visit their office, I did not see any female or colored managers or even foreigners (only an Indian intern), which also lead me to think if they will hire me at the end (non-EU citizen and Asian). 4. FlixBus has branded itself so hard as a tech company rather than a bus company, but I do not know if it is really the case.

Thank you for your review. We are happy that you liked our interview team, and see possibilities in FlixBus. We are sorry you had a mixed experience; however, we believe we did act in our previously stated principles and would like to clarify some details around the topics mentioned. As for the reimbursement and receipts. It is due to German regulation that we must ask for the original tickets. Prior each onsite interview all our candidates receive our onsite travel policy where we clearly state that we do not reimburse food and drinks. In case you did not receive the details by mistake we understand the frustration. In addition, we aim to provide a good experience by handling all the long-haul travel and the accommodation by ourselves, so our candidates do not have to pay to travel to us and get reimbursed later. Being a tech heavy company, diversity is a topic that requires our constant attention. Keeping that in mind we have more than 60 different nationalities working in Munich for us. Along with our growth, we are also working on other types of diversity initiatives. Once again, we are sorry that you have had a mixed experience and are always open for more feedback. Please do reach out to us on recruiting@flixbus.com if you feel necessary. Regards, Kornelia from FlixBus
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Flix (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2018

      Interview

Very unprofessional and unorganized HR and recruiting team and perhaps the poorest process that I have went through. I had my 1st interview on skype with someone in Germany. After a week, I was contacted for another skype interview. The interview went very well and I was told that my experiences perfectly fit their requirements and I am even a great candidate for their other senior positions. So I was literally told that "I got a yes" from him and I will hear from their HR before the end of the week. Interestingly enough, I did not hear from them for a month till one day I receive this email from their HR manager that they are still "very interested in my qualifications" and wanted me for an interview for another position. Of course at that point I was done with them but out of curiosity I said yes and she went to confirm the time with the interviewer. A day before that interview, she emailed back again that I am a better fit for the position that I initially applied for and canceled that interview. It has been 2 months since then and I have not heard from her again. All sounds more like a joke but that is how they treat their serious candidates.
