I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Google (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2022
Interview
3 C++/Coding algo questions, 1 behavioral "Googlyness"
One of the interviewers for the algo question was too caught up in my syntax when in a typical work environment I would be able to reference cppreference. Googlyness interviewer did not seem interested in any of my answers and did not have any sort of conversation with me and was very dry. Disappointing for a company of Google's stature.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tree/2d vector questions. Behavioral consisted of stupid questions like if I had conflict in the workplace and how I resolved it. I haven't had conflict in my 5 years of experience and the feedback later said I lacked original ideas. I guess I'm supposed to make up stories then.
The interview was tough. It was consisting of data structures and algorithms. Google or companies like google mainly focus on problem solving skills. If you can solve problems then you are in.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Feb 2020
Interview
From Referral:
- Behavior/Googliness Assessment
-Coding Challenge (2 medium level problems)
-Virtual Interviews (1 Personality, 4 technical problem solving)
Overall exactly what I expected and I could've done a better job preparing. A lot of the interviews depend on the person who is conducting it.
