I applied for this role at the start of February and was invited to complete a video interview one month later, which consisted of five questions I needed to record answers to using the Sonru platform. This was initially quite a jarring experience, however, I appreciated the flexibility this platform offered in allowing me to complete the interview at a time that suited me best.
Two weeks after completing the video interview, I was invited for a formal interview that was conducted by two members of the Talent Acquisition team. I was asked to provide examples of how I embodied the values Mercedes-Benz has as an organisation, and answer some competency-based questions to determine my suitability for the role. I was then tasked with completing a written exercise, as writing job advertisements is a key function of this role.
I was advised at the end of the interview that they still needed to interview a number of other candidates before preparing a shortlist of who would move through to the next stage, and I recognised this may take longer than usual as my interview took place just before the Easter break.
Approximately two weeks after this interview, I received a phone call to advise I was not through to the next stage (due to my lack of recruitment experience), however, they thought I would be a great fit for the company and wanted to see if there were any roles within their Marketing or Communications teams I would be suitable for.
While I was not successful in being offered this role, I was very impressed with the interview process overall. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant and professional, and they clearly communicated what I should expect at each stage of the process. After gaining a brief glimpse into the culture of Mercedes-Benz UK, I believe they would be a great employer and would not hesitate in recommending them to any candidates considering applying for roles they are advertising.
