If anyone at PayPal Recruiting cares about whether their core values are reflected in their recruiting process, read on.
It’s troubling to see lots of reviews here describing PayPal recruiters ghosting candidates. Sadly, my experience was no different.
First-round was with a recruiter. Positive; I was moved forward. The second round was with the hiring manager, also positive. Next steps would ostensibly be with a series of one-on-ones with other managers. I was told I’d hear back either way.
Then… nothing.
I followed up a week later. Got a response but with delays and deferrals (“holiday,” “out of office,” etc.). I made a final inquiry about three weeks after the hiring manager interview and was told they’d decided to move forward with an internal candidate. What made that particularly curious is that the role was later reposted, which raised questions about whether the internal-candidate rationale was for real.
I walked away with the impression that my interview progression simply got lost in the process: too many applicants, a busy hiring manager, and a recruiting process that defaults to crickets rather than closure.
If anyone at PayPal Recruiting cares how this experience was received? It didn’t feel respectful, nor did it feel your recruiters actively partner with their HMs about moving forward respectfully, efficiently, quickly.
And it certainly didn't seem aligned with PayPal's stated core values of inclusion, innovation, collaboration, wellness. It left the impression that people are treated less like humans and more like object transactions.
