I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Publix (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in May 2010
Interview
At the time, my unemployment was running out and I was getting really desperate (sent out 1200 resumes in 5-6 months and only 2 interviews-no offers). It was a store that I shopped at and I asked the store manager if there were any front office positions. He said they didn't really have a lot of hours for the front end but asked if I would be interested in working the deli. I decided that I would try it out and asked me to come back and talk to him the following week. We had a short conversation and I was hired
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If I wanted to work in the deli. It was a very kind offer but having spent so many years in a desk job, I didn't think I was going to be able to hack it. I think because I was older and fairly well spoken (and lived pretty close to the location) the manager felt that I was more than qualified at least in maturity.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Publix
Interview
I applied in the store and one week later they called me for an interview. The interviewing process is fairly simple.I met with the store manager and she went over my resume. She was very nice. One week later, I've got an offer, overall great experience
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Publix (Mobile, AL)
Interview
Applied at kiosk in store, received a call back 2 weeks later. First interview was with the assistant manager and it was very relaxed; more of a "get to know you" type interview. They did ask about my previous customer service experience, and also to tell them about a time that I dealt with an upset customer and what did I do about to handle the situation. Was told during the first interview that they liked me and they would call me the next day for a second interview with the store manager. As expected, they called the next day to schedule the second interview. This interview took place 4 days after the first. The manager asked me what I know about Publix and then proceeded to explain the origins of the company to me (I honestly had not researched that question). The interview was again very relaxed and the manager explained how there's a lot of opportunity to advance within Publix. No unexpected questions. I feel like, as in the first interview, they were trying to get a feel for who you are as a person. Was called the next day with an offer for full-time employment.
