      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Siemens Healthineers (Erlangen) in Aug 2020

      Interview

In total three rounds of interview. First interview with hiring manager took approximately 1 hour per video conference (due to Covid). He showed first a presentation about the company and where his team was inserted and where the new employee would be in the hiring hierarchy. After that a few questions regarding my CV, my background and some technical questions. He told me I would receive a response until the end of the week if I would continue to the next round or not. Then he sent me an email already the next day calling for the second interview. Second interview personally with three people: hiring manager, human resources person and the boss of the hiring manager. I had to give a presentation of 10 min of my own choice. The hiring manager informed me about the presentation before. Many questions regarding my background, challenges, project management. In general no hard questions; the questions were somehow easy. After that they told me I would receive a response until Friday (it was Thursday) if I continued or not. The next day afternoon the hiring manager contacted me per phone saying I would go to the last phase. The last phase of interview took one hour and it was with the boss of the boss of the hiring manager (three levels above). The director who interviewed me was very experienced. He asked many hard questions, the interview in general was hard. Some of them I was not able to answer. They only bring candidates to this level of interview when they are really willing to make an offer; so the last interview is most like a "double check" if the director shares the same opinion of the others. If you make to this point, you are almost (almost!) hired. At the end of the interview I asked him when I would get a response if I would be hired or not. He told me until the beginning of the next week (it was Tuesday). The next day 8:00 in the morning the hiring manager wrote me saying that the boss of his boss agreed with my hiring, so they would make me an offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is the difference between microcontrollers and microprocessors? Who are the stakeholders of your PhD? How much salary do you expect? If we hire you, what would have to happen to make you leave the company immediately? What for your is totally unacceptable in a company? (this question was repeated two times in two different ways) Is there something about you which you would like to tell me? Something that I should hear about you?
