No interview. Initial CV screen followed by an offer to complete a screening test in next 7 days. Invited to join one of five available webinar on how to pass the test, times were in BST so 8.45pm or some time in the middle of the night. I attended an 8.45pm session and it gave a general idea of the process. Subsequently received link to similar content, don’t know if would have received that if hadn’t attended the webinar, but content was similar. They said they expected me to spend 15-20 mins on each result in the test and the test should take 3 hours, BUT, you need to answer 30 questions correctly and allowed 10 incorrect answers so anywhere between 30-40 questions. Using their maths that would be between 7.5 - 10 hours. It took me 7.5 hours to answer 37 questions. Also in order to pass the test you need to read and familiarise yourself with the guidelines, 270+ pages long. It took me around 5 hours to read through and digest the guidelines. Long interview! The test was okay. First result took me ages, got faster as got more familiar with the process, the guidelines and what I was doing. The exam wasn’t challenging as such, but you need to be able to find the relevant instructions in the guidelines quickly. It’s detail driven and very prescriptive in the main, although there is some subjectivity in determining relevance. Basically you are assessing online map search results for relevance (based on the user intent, prominence and distance, which is where subjectivity comes in), checking the name and category are correctly presented and spelled, and rating the accuracy of the dropped pin location. There is some internet searching to be done, e.g. searching postal addresses exist, checking business locations exist, using google maps street view to check what is at that address is reality. I answered 37 questions which means I got 30 right and 7 wrong which qualified me to pass. I have submitted proof of identity and am waiting to hear back on start date. Interestingly the time given for each result once you are employed is 3 minutes so I should have completed my 37 results in under 2 hours. As you are paid per task, I am going to have to get a LOT faster.
