I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (Davis, CA) in Nov 2011
Interview
Before the interview, I took a basic multiple choice assessment test that asked what I thought the best/worst solutions to certain situations were. The position was for seasonal Starbucks cashier and I was interviewed by the Starbucks Team Leader . She asked me:
1) Why I wanted to work for Target Starbucks
2) Do you have any retail experience
3) What would a supervisor/teacher say were your strengths and where you needed improvement
Then she moved onto 4 situation-type “STAR” questions, where they ask “Describe a time when..” and your answer should describe the Situation, the Task (what’s required, who was involved, when/where it took place), the Action taken, and the Result. The questions asked of me were: Describe a time when you…
1) helped someone in need
2) worked with a group to achieve a goal
3) performed a task out of your skill set and how you handled it
4) a time when you had many projects/deadlines
After the interview, I was supposed to interview with the Team Leader’s supervisor, but she was not there that day. So I came back the next morning to interview with her. Again, she asked similar STAR type questions:
1) Why I wanted to work for Starbucks
2) Describe a time I helped someone in need
3) Describe a time I made a mistake and what I did to fix it
4) Describe a time I was frustrated with another co-worker.
Overall the interview experience was pretty easy because I prepared for it using the questions I found here on Glassdoor.

Interview
I filled out an application was called about a week later and they were flexible on times and dates for the interview. Before the interview I had to go into any Target store and take a personality test at one of their kiosks. Basic what if questions. I was interviewed by 3 separate individuals and immediately asked if I wanted the job after the 3 person. Had 24 hours to take a drug test or the offer was null.

Interview
I applied online for a few jobs at Target, cashier being my prefered choice, and in a couple days I got a phone call scheduling an interview. I dressed in some black slacks and a casual dress shirt. I went in early and ended up waiting in the break room while the guy who was going to be interviewing me finished his break.
After, he brought me into an office and asked me some simple questions. Why I wanted the job, what skills I had that related etc. Then he asked 4 situation-behavior-outcome kind of questions. Example name a time when I helped someone, worked together as a team etc and asked I be as detailed as possible with my answers. I felt like I was babbling but at the end of the questions he said he really appreciated the amount of detail I went into. Being this was my first real job I answered most of my questions with school related answers. He was ok with that. Before the interview ended he asked me what kind of hobbies and things I enjoyed and said he really liked me and thought I would be great for the job being I was so social and that he wanted to get to know who I was a little more. Seemed wierd but I answered and it turned more into what I would consider a 10 minute BS session. Very casual type of interview.
He seemed pleased and said I would be interviewed by one of his supervisors and had me wait in the break room again. A few minutes later she called me back and asked me more of the same kind of questions. I gave detailed and honest answers and she seemed happy with them. After waiting a few more minutes I went into an office with another woman who then offered me the job of cashier. I signed some papers for my bakcground check and drug screening. Once I passed my drug test I was called with the date and time of my orientation.
Overall it was a very laid back interview process. People were very friendly and nice and the interviews were easy and quick. My biggest advice is smile LOTS! and be friendly and personable. If you do, more than likely you'll be hired.
