I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tesla (Austin, TX) in May 2024
Interview
I recently completed a multi-stage interview process. The loop included four in-depth interviews following an initial HR screening, and concluded with a detailed case presentation delivered to the hiring manager, senior leadership, and peer-level colleagues.
While the conversations were thoughtful and engaging, and my presentation received positive feedback for its depth and rigor, it became apparent that I was significantly more experienced than what the role required. The hiring manager candidly noted concerns about long-term fit, given the tactical nature of the work and my broader strategic background. Ultimately, the team concluded that I would be better aligned with Director-level opportunities rather than the posted role. Although I appreciate the transparency at the end, it was a disappointing outcome after investing over six weeks of time and extensive effort into case preparation. It's a reminder to all involved—candidates and companies alike—how critical it is to align on scope, expectations, and role seniority early in the process.

Question 1
Tell me about a difficult problem where you offered a solution that was not taken into consideration by your leaders or peers? Why was it not implemented? What was the resistance to your idea or pushback? How did you deal with it? Would you have done anything differently knowing what you know now?
