Unprofessional and Disorganized Interview Process
I was initially contacted through LinkedIn to interview for a role at Tiktok which I was excited about. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be surprisingly disorganized and unprofessional.
On the day of the interview, I received an early morning email from someone I didn’t recognize, notifying me that the interviewer couldn’t make it and asking to reschedule. The email was sent from a personal address with minimal context—no clear introduction, no explanation of their role, and no information on next steps. I followed up to clarify who was reaching out and confirm the rescheduling details. In response, I received another vague reply with an apology but no further clarity.
After trying to reach out to the original contact to verify the situation and request help with rescheduling, I was met with complete silence and never heard back. The lack of professionalism and communication felt disrespectful, and after this experience, I no longer wish to pursue opportunities with the company.
The company could benefit from improving its candidate communication and clarity in the interview process. Introducing oneself properly, using official email channels, and providing timely responses would go a long way in creating a better candidate experience.
While I understand that changes and scheduling conflicts happen, the lack of follow-up and transparency left a negative impression. Clear communication is essential, and I hope the company considers revisiting its candidate experience to ensure it reflects positively on its culture and values.
