I applied through college or university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Walgreens (Bakersfield, CA) in Jun 2011
Interview
interview planned through the work placement office at the local university, following with a 30 minute interview with two store managers. Mostly based on behavioral questions and they contacted with with at least three days of the interview. I encourage applicants to submit a thank you letter with the managers after the interview. Also to be as honest as possible regarding customer service previous experience.

Question 1
Tell me a situation where you dealt with an upset customer?
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Walgreens in Jun 2011
Interview
I filled out the online application, and then about a week later I visited in store to follow up for "step two" of the process. I dressed in a nice skirt and blouse, with my hair and makeup done. After an assistant manager had me fill out step two on a store computer (IQ test; asked questions about how to make change, "is the customer always right" type questions), I interviewed with the store manager. The store manager talked to me for about 5 minutes about the hours he was looking for and the position (cashier/beauty advisor). The only things he asked me about were what college I was attending, what I was studying, my previous experience (none), and what my preferences were in regards to hours. I was hired on the spot and sent for drug testing the same day. Don't go in for step two if you know you could fail the drug test, since if you're hired same day they will try to send you for the test asap and it'd probably look rather shady if you decline. Overall it was much easier than I anticipated.
