Code reading test: This was multiple pages of advanced SQL, followed by somewhat easier C#. The first I was asked more about the purpose of the code, so I approached it by quickly diagramming their likely schema and predicting what they must be doing. The second, the C#, was more syntactic structure and identifying ternary If, state machine pattern and other details - as VB is my language, I was not as quick. Sadly, as far as the C# went, whilst I knew what the case statement in a property was doing! I did not catch onto the terminology they wanted me to say in identifying the style of coding - a state machine! In addition, I use little event driven stuff in my own code and completely missed how they used events. Anyone into more UI stuff would have eaten that in a second. They had two positions, but the one I wanted and the one they preferred me to consider were different and they did have more seasoned C# folks to interview.
