What is CQRS, ACID? Are you ok with working with no framework at all? Have you had Concurrency problems before? How do you solve a deadlock? Best and average time to access a HashMap? What is the internal implementation of a Hashmap?(WTF) How many years have you worked in java? Short introduction from my side and the recruiters side as well. Suddenly he switched to tech questions like: What is DDD, CQRS, ACID, SOLID, Concurrency, locking. He asked me about my experiences and how I assure code testability overall.

What is CQRS, ACID? Are you ok with working with no framework at all? Have you had Concurrency problems before? How do you solve a deadlock? Best and average time to access a HashMap? What is the internal implementation of a Hashmap?(WTF) How many years have you worked in java? Short introduction from my side and the recruiters side as well. Suddenly he switched to tech questions like: What is DDD, CQRS, ACID, SOLID, Concurrency, locking. He asked me about my experiences and how I assure code testability overall.

Where does a cache fit in this picture (of a server/application layout) Given unknown number of Transactions coming into your website, how do you derive statistics on the total for the 'last' 30 minute period using constant memory (the answering is bucketing) Draw a java 8 lambda that returns the sum of a collection of objects where total is greater than x ( a ridiculous question, I dont see how this relates to any particular job skill )

In the first round, one problems was based on the Binary Search Trees and the other involved parallel search for a substring in a very long string. The interviewer expected the solutions to be syntactically correct and functional and was a stickler for corner test cases. I felt the interview to be too short for two problems whose solutions are expected to handle all possible test cases. In the third round, one problem was to build an algorithm for the mobile game Snakes which used to come in Nokia 3300 or something. I remembered the game as I had played it myself as a child. The other question was to merge a set of intervals (a set of pairs of time intervals).
