Pros

managers, coworkers and district managers are amazing. everyone cares about one another. 100% willing to work with you on anything and invite ideas. feel very appreciated.

Cons

its a lot of work, labor wise and only a few employees are on at a time but thats how prices stay so low and the pay off is great. my only real con is long hours almost everyday but you get a good paycheck!!

Pros

$$$ I could also say that you learn to run a business and develop a plethora of marketable skills, but that would be an over-statement.

Cons

I am finally free of the burden of being a DM and I can honestly say that I am able to truly enjoy my life for the first time in years. I don't get immediately anxious when my phone rings. I sleep through the night without the possibility of being woken up by an alarm call. I don't worry about what's happening in my stores every day of vacation or spend the last day of any time off dreading the mountain of things that will be waiting for me when I walk in the store. I am able to spend holidays with my family and actually maintain relationships and friendships. I didn't realize how much I gave up to be a DM until I was just me again. I no longer associate most strongly with my professional self which is a huge relief. Instead I am able to relate to people on new levels and be more emotionally available for my friends and family. I will say that your experience relies heavily on your director, most of whom are white men who were promoted either out of necessity or because they shook the right hand. I cannot express enough the supreme lack of diverse representation across upper management.

Pros

The pay was excellent, the Cigna benefits were excellent.. Outside of that nothing.

Cons

As a Manager Trainee unless you can create a personal relationship with a DM to help get you in a store they will begin to get rid of you after 12 months. To get a store they either have to build it or they have to fire the store manager you will replace. The Store Managers know this when you arrive at their store. They will defend their job and of course will scapegoat the MT. This is an hourly position. Store Manager is salary. This creates a bad situation as many MT's understand they are hourly. The DM's are young and inexperienced. For many this is their first real job. If you get a bad DM its pretty much going to be over for you. Their system of expressing concerns is a way to weed you out if you have a complaint before it goes to high. If you want to stay employed do not under any circumstances complain to a superior or you will be fighting to keep your job. Reward and promotion are solely based on personal relationships. It is much like high school sadly.
