Pros

Very team orientated - they're serious about about everyone being a part of the whole, and most are great at it Customers - almost all customers understand and enjoy the way Aldi runs it's businesses, and are generally friendly as well Pay - high for retail RTO - most all of mine was granted

Cons

Task speed - they ask so much in so little time it jeopardizes your body, your customers experiences, and therefore your job there. Reward vs punishment - one time mistakes you make are immediately assumed against you, but excellence is ignored Punch clock - Watched like a hawk, down to the minute Understaffed - normally 2-3 workers in a store at a time (cashier, mod, store manager/2nd cashier), so store cleanliness and product freshness can seriously suffer sometimes Every store has at lest one "that employee" - because of the anxiety management facilitates, you'll always find that one major jerk- extremely rude to EVERYONE- employee. And that is not a good teammate to keep around. Refused to give me full time benefits but gave me full time hours - It's ultimately why I left.

Pros

I've been working with aldi for 2 1/2 years. I work as an associate/cashier. The job has good benefits for those that work full time it comes with medical, vision, and dental and you also have the option to enroll in a 401k plan (also for full time) the starting salary is also really good. The starting salary for my store is $12 an hour for cashiers/ associates , $16 an hour for shift managers and $25 an hour for store managers. The job also gives payee vacations along with personal and sick days. When store associates are not stocking they are ringing at the register and we get to sit down for the amount of time we ring and we don't bag the customers items.

Cons

Aldi doesn't seem to like to hire alot of people. Often we are short staffed. We get timed on the register , they expect the cashiers to get the lines down as fast as they can which makes a lot of customers angry because they say that the cashiers throw their stuff in the cart and a lot of people expect the cashiers to bag their stuff for them. Cashiers do everything in the store from stocking to cleaning to ringing to unloading pallets in the morning. The schedules vary from week to week and usually full time workers don't get the full 40 hours except in the summer full time workers get up to 47 hours per week. Also the associates that come unload the truck are expected to ring and don't have much time to unload the truck and usually are expected to stay past the time they are scheduled to. Cashiers are expected to count their own money drawer and make a deposit before they leave which takes like an extra 20 minutes after the time they are scheduled to. Also they really don't care about how they schedule you the store closes at 9 but employees don't leave until everything is done which can be up to 12am and sometimes the people that close are expected to unload a truck the next day at 6am less than 6 hours of sleep.

Pros

Pay, paid holidays, some holidays off

Cons

They tell you your availability should be from 5am-11pm, you end up staying past 11 a lot of days making it over a 10 hr shift. They expect you to do the work of 3 people. They are also changing and making the store open on some holidays, and your vacation time. Also, poor scheduling.. Close one night (until anywhere from 10-midnight) then open the next morning at 5am to do the truck for 4 hours(veerry physically demanding) and then work at least 4 more hrs after on the floor or as a cashier. It's an exhausting job with high stress levels and poor management.
