      Need to catch the next wave

      Pros

      interest to focus on microprocessor products. It is a challenging working environment when there is activity. The company has the ability to spend a lot of money on new project and gets good support from the contractor teams.

      Cons

      too many people doing the same thing. At the present time, AMD is in stand-by mode. One of the fab has been completly unequipped and people have been waiting long enough for the decision concerning the close future. If AMD is to go on a joint venture, why is the information not shared with the employees. I would like to see as well a more centrylized organisation to avois parallel projects of the same nature to be ignitiated at the same time.

      High Sense of Contribution but Poor Work/Life Balance

      Pros

      - Good compensation - You work on things that matter and can see their impact - Leadership is strong, with leaders commonly being experts in the groups they lead

      Cons

      - Work/Life Balance is a joke. Consistent late evening calls, and while they put on a facade of making personal life important, at the core they want you to devote your life to AMD - 3 days in office 2 days wfh, and they actively monitor you. Anything less needs Leadership approval (i.e. they let you go and they hire someone who will come in at least 3 days a week). - Very few "fun" events (i.e. happy hours, top golf, etc.) - Overall, focus is very much on working hard, with little thought given to fun, rest, and personal time. - Specifically for finance, Quarter Closes are absolute nightmares. Worst I've ever seen at any company. You lose at least 1 week of your life every 3 months.

      Exciting technical work and cool products

      Cons

      - Toxic management and horrible managers who are not technical, and would rather micromanage - Condescending and patronizing behaviour in most pre-Silicon teams - Horrible trend of seniors looking down at juniors, and not giving breathing room, or providing proper teachings in early stage of career - No team spirit and sense of community - Sub-par salaries
