Worst place I've ever worked

Pros

Trips to Amsterdam That's it. I'm just adding words because Glassdoor requires at least five.

Cons

Don't get sucked in by the Amsterdam trips and other perks. Read the negative reviews here, and you'll see that Adyen doesn't care about people of color, or people with families, or people with disabilities and medical issues. A lot of people drink the Adyen kool-aid and talk about how great the people are, how fun and challenging the work is, and how much they love the culture. But once you leave this place and find another job, you'll see how underpaid and mistreated you were.

Pros

Generous in terms of snacks, drinks, team-building trips, celebrations, etc. People are friendly, prefer to call are chat instead of e-mails.

Cons

Career Growth: non-existent. You will be stuck in the same role for years. Promotions will only occur if you play politics. HR and management will not guide you to succeed in your role and they will not offer any trainings. Formula: The 'create your own path' part of the formula is how they justify poor management skills, lack of training, and feedback. People will reach out directly to your manager and most likely you will hear indirect feedback. They will use the "gossip" or rumors to demote you. People will assure you with a fake smile that everything is going well, and if something is wrong they will only tell your manager. HR: they are not your allies. They will question your sickness or parental leave and they can become extremely unprofessional. Otherwise, you might hear from HR when you join and when you leave. thats' all. Diversity: If you are Dutch most likely won't face any trouble but if you are "different" or belong to any minority you will struggle. The board is practically entirely Dutch male, as is upper management. Casual conversation can be pretty racist or even sexist. This is a common complaint, outlined multiple times in our ‘People and Culture audit’, which gets performed every year and then promptly buried by HR. Salary: People driving actual work and innovation are very underpaid. Many people received very little salary increase y-o-y and no bonuses. In general, they pay 20% less than the market rate. Culture: I can only relate Adyen's culture to malpractice, harassment, and discrimination.
