Pros

Working at scale. Lots of opportunities to understand and solve complex problems.

Cons

Amazon has completely gone to the wolves. They no longer take risks on employees, creating opportunities for internal candidates that they otherwise wouldn't have. Operating in shroud mystery that completely alienates employees and means Amazon operates with zero organisational culture.

Pros

Learned a lot about how the business works, including the flying wheel and 14 principles, which are quite helpful in my career. Some really talented coworkers from different backgrounds, cultures and countries. Good benefits and perks (not as good as Google but better than many tech companies in China). Internal transfer opportunities for overseas positions.

Cons

Very stressful and lots of workloads. Had to work for at least 10-12 hours per day. And due to time differences, need to join the con-call at early morning, midnight or during lunch breaks. Toxic team environment, the managers like to push you with overwhelming workloads and give you negative feedbacks all the time - no matter if you have done well. Only the people who has a strong heart can keep working here for over 2 years. Office politics are quite tiring and intense for those who are not good at it. Cannot trust anyone here.
