Pros

1. Interview process was so refreshing and engaging 2. Amazon really knows how to walk the talk from leadership principles to tenets that Amazonians demonstrate and uphold at work to its data driven hiring process 3. Learning, learning and more learning 4. Ecosystem that promotes and supports innovation with right structures and mechanisms in place

Cons

1. It still operates like a scrappy startup which can be good and bad. Good in terms of immense learning opportunities, bad in the sense that you spend a great deal of time figuring things out. 2. Processes may not be documented which can mean a mess sometimes if you are used to structure

Pros

I joined just 3 months back so have had limited experience with Amazon as an employer. The onboarding was one of the best I have experienced, even though I had no prior domain knowledge in the area I joined. Great team mates supporting each other, most people are always ready to help and guide. The firm is obsessed about customer experience and a lot of opportunity to learn. The resources in terms of documents, training and videos available to learn are huge.

Cons

None yet. 3 months is too short a time.

Pros

Organization is build for long term success where core leadership principles, backed by incentive structure nurture a great work culture for learning and innovation. Very strong focus on end customer and continuously raising the bar. Lot of investment in employees to prepare them for the work rigor.

Cons

Pace or work is very intense. Not only would you need to work long hours (initial years) but each of those hour needs far more concentration and productivity than at most other organizations. Amazon encourages and demands very strong writing skills, even senior people write 6 page narratives. Every sentence needs to be very carefully though through, should be backed by thorough analysis, and metrics. If writing and reading does not come naturally to you or if you have grown out of those habits then making your mark at Amazon will be a struggle.
