Pros

Internal transfers to other positions and dept are common and easy at manager level.

Cons

Getting a director + job internally is impossible without sponsorship and knowing the hiring leader in advance. It's run like a HS organization, ie it's who you know not what you know. It's highly political and inefficient. Every 5 yrs the company cuts head count by 10% and reorg. Leaders assigns jobs out to you and you end up in a new group/ boss and the message is, be thankful you have a job.
