Pros

Previously some great learning opportunity from seasoned sales people and to force the practise of good sales execution. Unfortunately the new wave of “leaders” don’t have any of the credentials to run the dictatorship.

Cons

Despite any previous sales experience expect to be treated like you have just left school. There is an expectation that everybody is incompetent and has to be subservient to the management, opinions are frankly not allowed and during QBRs you are only expected to give “yes” or “no” answers. Calls and meetings will be put into your diary at 7am and considered mandatory without any discussion. The deep dive into your “drive” uncovered during your interview process will be questioned constantly and used to humiliate you publicly. Expect to see marriages breakdown as the norm, as well as health problems - there won’t be any support when this happens. The lion culture has become a cult, and leadership with credibility replaced with a bunch of 30-something’s who thrive on belittling the people around them. It’s a cult.. which if you make it out alive will make you realise the psychological impact of working in such a toxic environment.

Pros

Work life balance since the release cycles is very long you could relax.

Cons

Outdated Glassfish Server and EJB technology. Monolithic code with poor code coverage most of the time spent in fixing bugs. Poor code quality. They'll hire you saying they are going to do re-architecture but most of the work is driven from the US. Rearchitecture is mostly rewriting EJBs to POJOs with no concern to scale. Indian R & D spends time mostly in sustenance and some unimportant dev works pushed from the US. US folks have strong discrimination behaviour while reviewing the code and distributing the work. Top level management in Bangalore is more interested in hiring so that they could dump more crap work rather than focus on getting good solid work. Architects are not forward looking they are still in the lost world of EJBs and they don't embrace open source technology. Forget quality work as most of the code is legacy and monolithic. They don't have even simple services. Egoistic Attitude from US Peers. Please think twice before joining this place. It is definitely not the best company in Bangalore there are much better and technically superior and culturally amicable companies out there. At your own risk join this company be prepared to lower your standards of coding and thinking which will be fatal for your career in the long run. It may take you 1 month to review a simple code due to few irresponsible code reviewers from the US. Poor workplace. Free food is of lower quality to reduce the cost.

Pros

- Surrounded by highly intelligent and motivated people. - Market leading product - There is a big focus on personal development - Earning potential very good - The leadership is abrasive but in their own way they do care about developing people

Cons

- AppD have a set, very specific sales process and way of doing things. It is enforced by a set, very specific, abrasive style of management. It can feel a little robotic. Many swear by the process and it clearly has transformed a certain type of person for the better. For others it’s stifling, limiting and doesn’t work at all. You’ve got to think very carefully about what type of working / management style you are looking for and will thrive under before joining. It has nothing to do with how driven, ambitious or smart you are, rather the question you should ask yourself is how do you like to learn? - The sales team in particular is in a state of perma-stress. - The EMEA organisation is a cult, cast in the personal image of the GM - people swear an unquestioning loyalty and obedience regardless of what goes on. - Onboarding is a mess
