Toxic Environment, zero accountability

Pros

Meeting great people who share the same experience as you Cisco backing

Cons

- Toxic manipulative leadership - Bad work life balance. Management will tell you to enjoy your down time, and then contradicts themselves by contacting you on your time off to work. Most employees work 10-12 hour days unless you are on a team that can coast with ease. - Leadership in certain orgs offering “promotions” with no salary increase or level increase. - Titles not matching scope of work or level. Observed team leader titles not being equal to one another. The inequality on my team often fell on the woman. Blatant gender discrimination. - ZERO accountability. Seeing a leader continually discriminate, obvious inequality, favoritism and unethical actions. It gets reported by multiple people, and this leader remains in a position of power.

Declining Rapidly

Pros

Used to be an excellent company to work for with leading tech. Cisco still seems to be pumping money into the company. Previously excellent, proven, sales process which continues to be used as a model at other companies - however, this is being eroded by new leadership.

Cons

Declined rapidly over the last 12 months. - Lost lots of talent - Weak leadership (old leaders leave and new leaders are put in place by Cisco) - No longer leading tech - huge tech debt which has consumed years of dev time, with little to show for it. - Missed the boat on monitoring the cloud - playing catch up since. - Toxic/lazy staff retained at the expense of hard workers.

Downhill after Cisco acquisition and mass exodus of leadership in 2019

Pros

You can stay under the radar if you do the bare minimum and aren't ambitious or want to make a difference. Great philanthropy and giving back programs and initiatives.

Cons

You won't like it or survive if you question leadership or don't go with the flow. People under performing or not performing aren't dealt with so it's frustrating to those who have high expectations and standards. Leadership is mostly all talk but don't follow through in action, including CEO of Cisco.

AppDynamics Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on your personal experience. There is no doubt that acquisitions are hard, but we’re committed to seeing that every effort is being made to combine what makes AppD special with what makes Cisco special. This will, of course, take time as we adjust, learn, and grow together. We have recently rolled out leadership trainings for all global people managers and encourage employees to share concerns and feedback internally with our leadership.
