Pros

Incredibly satisfying working here with a million things to do everyday and all of them are impactful. Worked at big tech before, and was pulling my hair out in boredom near the tail end of my stint. People here are great to work with, high talent density and folks are always friendly. Culture of the company is always improving. Saw some problems when I first joined on code quality, saw marked improvements + leadership listened when engineers shared this feedback. Business fundamentals are solid, series F investors are a great proxy. Compensation increased 8x in a span of 4 years.

Cons

Do not join if you want a work life balance. This is a startup, you will work hard everyday, you will have to work on anything and everything to make your team successful, and do it well all at the same time (long term projects, 0-1 projects, customer support). This is a performance based culture, so some people will love this, others will hate it. Don't join if you want to coast. This is probably where some of the alarming reviews here on glassdoor are about (people got fired + pushed out because their performance is not there).

Pros

Everyone there is incredibly smart and motivated, leadership knows how to deliver value to customers and make money. If you work hard and show that you can deliver there is a lot of opportunity for growth.

Cons

Burnout is common if you do not protect your time. Long hours can be the norm and sometimes required if you want to grow.

Pros

Applied has extremely talented and friendly engineers who are all highly driven by what they work on. It's great to be in person and get to learn and collaborate with such motivated and smart people, and I've learned so much about the automotive industry and engineering practices

Cons

Applied requires you to have or develop really good time management and prioritization skills. Since the business and the tech moves so quickly, you can feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that you're trying to take on. You learn quickly that this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be doing everything all the time, but rather that you have to be able to make quick prioritization decisions off the cuff and manage your own time.
