Pros

Santa Clara is close to where I live, easy commute. Has great name recognition. It means something to be an executive assistant at this company, they have very high standards for their support staff.

Cons

Way too many V.P.'s, the title means nothing anymore. Still very much an "old boys network". The lack of communication from Splinter all the way down is very frustrating. They way they handle the layoff's and the secrecy behind it all is ridiculous. No one knows who left until their emails get bounced back. And Lotus Notes sucks. Period.

Pros

1. Applied offers educational allowances, if you have the time to take advantage of it. 2. Applied is well respected amongst its industry; vendors listen to you 3. Majority of the office workers and engineers are very intelligent which makes the place an incredibly competitive yet enlightening place to work in

Cons

1. Because majority of people are A-type personalities, there is a cut-throat culture. If you show any incompetence or lack of skills, you will be chewed up and thrown out 2. The most skilled and brightest executives are tyrants yet extremely successful at doing their jobs (excluding people management)

Pros

Applpied Materials is a great company to work for. The people or nice and very respectful. Their salary compensation is very competitive and some what better then most company.

Cons

You have to move around and work really hard to get notice that you are a great worker. Getting promotion is like climbing the rocky mountain. Hoping one of the rock to fall off or move out before you can get to that spot.
