Pros

You get a pay check every two weeks. Sometimes it's slow and you can have a relaxing shift. OT is often available.

Cons

Absolutely toxic environment and revolving door of management(every 8 or so months) and levels of management - they brought in shift leads for a year, realized they were doing nothing, fired them all, realized one manage couldn't do all the work, and two years later they instituted a co-manager. Coworkers, cannot wait to throw you under a bus. You will see someone who has a history of deenergizing a wrong tool , can't finish their passdowns in time, who is a CE IV or above just viciously attack you for not doing maintenance fast enough. You will have a lead who will show up 1-2 hours later ON A WEEKLY BASIS, who's coworkers have to call to wake him up. One lead in particular loved to say "should I get ____ fired? I think I should get ____ fired." That isn't leadership, that isn't being tough, it's being a backstabber and a horrible human. You ask a system's expert a question, they call your lead and say" ____ doesn't know how to do the work!". And you know it will be brought up in the weekly meeting. Coworkers won't try to help someone out if they make a mistake on shift, instead something like the following two things will happen: They wont say anything and you will find out about it months later. Two, they will passively aggressively state how they did the job the right way, and won't give you any details on what went wrong or why. So you're left with an environment where people can't wait to point the finger at their coworkers when they make a mistake, because they know others are throwing them under the bus behind they back as well. And for what? So they can get an office position so they don't have to work on the floor?

Pros

It is a job. Nothing else.

Cons

ONLY applied to DDP department. Not sure about other departments. If you got a job offer from DDP (DSM), ask yourself one important question first: can being successful in this company make your life successful? If the answer is yes, then come and work here. To me, the answer is NO. To make myself successful in this company will benefit this company, but not my personal life overall. It is a very stressful job which will make you have no life. In the meantime what you receive in return is a really low salary that can barely cover the basic cost of living in the CA bay area. The company is making profits, but never reflected on employees' salaries. Bonus and stock is a joke compared to other bay area companies. Even directors and managers' packages for those who have worked 10+ years may not be comparable to what a new CS graduate can get. It might be an ok job for new graduates as a "boot camp" to start their career in a fast-paced, unorganized environment, then they can handle everything after leaving Applied. If you are in your mid-career, do not come. It has a very unhealthy work environment and culture. The turnover rate is really high for an engineering job, most people will leave in 3 years, and their position will be filled with new graduates. It is like each manager just has a team with 3-year contractors since most of the people do not plan to stay in this company long term. Management tries to control this but has had no success so far. Personally, I do not recommend working here, either for a career or life.

Pros

- From the time I joined the company, I could see nothing positive about this place. I have become more cautious about my career choices after working and enduring the extremely toxic work culture at Applied Materials Bangalore office.

Cons

- Extreme politics - Non existent HR policies - No career growth - No bonus, extremely low hike - Work is totally different from what is mentioned in the job description - Low compensation - The company has a good culture and brand name overall but India office doesn't have a lot of growth opportunities
