Oh boy, where do I start!? It's amazing how change in leadership can flip everything upside-down almost overnight. In the course of just a few months the office atmosphere changed dramatically and, at present, only the back-stabbing, take-credit-for-other-people’s-work shoeshines get promoted. Performance is now measured by the way you ‘sell’ yourself to your managers and not by your actual output. Most managers have ‘teacher’s pets’ who get pushed in the back and the rest are neglected and left in the dirt. Top management have become obsessed with timesheets, utilisation and unachievable targets. Almost all projects are now ‘losing money’ hence, you should work more and harder to offset the losses, while at the same time they keep hiring new people at an unprecedented rate. The ‘you are disposable’ message is echoed throughout the whole organisation. The company mantra is that we are supposed to deliver exceptional client experience but at the same time we get hammered over the head for spending time creating a meaningful relationship and not ‘working hard’ to achieve the abovementioned impossible goals.
