Pros

Unlimited overtime, good overall atmosphere, flexible schedule. Work as much as you wants, as long as you hit 40 hours

Cons

The automotive coatings division was going through a rough period when I started here. The company was still recovering from the market crash in 2008, so there were still layoffs happening and (understandably) disgruntled employees. There was no room for advancement and no chance to get hired on as a direct employee, although this has changed now I think. I was laid off for 3 months, but was hired back.

Pros

I've been working for BASF Catalyst Division for over 4 years now and I can't come up with a lot of positives. benefits are good, that's really it.

Cons

Working hard does not pay off at BASF. middle management definetly worries more about the squeaky wheel than the people working hard to make the place a success. middle managmnt is very weak and as a result people do not get along, it's a very malicious hostile environment and HR is not interested in solving the problems. getting a promotion is not realistic. the general consensus is that your position is generally a dead end. BASF doesn't invest in your career or show any commitment to keeping you around. instead they will hire an external candidate and require you to show them their job. very backward thinking.invest
