The company does not value talent retention. They tend to bring in people at really low salary levels and yearly increases are miniscule. Best to get a good starting base salary before accepting an offer.

I've been consulting for a decade and Bayer in Berkeley was the worst experience I ever had. Much of the facility itself is appallingly old and crumbling -- I got stuck in one of these windowless buildings in a room with a couple working light bulbs. Generally aggressive and combative work culture with political wrangling reminiscent of high school. Lots of passing the buck. Nobody wanted to work together and some were just hanging around until retirement. Messaging from the top - dedication to safety and compliance, etc - not in line with reality at lower levels where everything was ok as long as delivered on time.
