Pros

Very science- and innovation-focused; it's a pleasure to work with in-house scientists. Good relationships with external experts and broad scientific community. Company is filled with talented, passionate, experienced individuals across all levels. Salaries offered in the UK are competitive (although I heard that they are less so in other countries).

Cons

No opportunities for professional training/development. No structured approach to training. No objective setting or performance review cycle (however, they have been promised soon - fingers crossed). In the UK, the benefits are rather average. Some people at Senior Director level who have been with the company for years are extremely discriminative, abusive and unprofessional, to the extent of driving away talent. The company has 6000+ employees, but the senior leadership operates as if it's still 200 people, resulting in stalled processes and wasted opportunities. Department heads don't have any decision-making power. Historically the company is German, and it looks like senior level employees based in other countries are not given enough decision-making power compared with their Germany-based colleagues (although, admittedly, the Germany-based colleagues have been with the company longer on average, so maybe the trust is won in time?)
