      Everything startups promise to be, but usually aren't

      Pros

      After several years of working for Camunda, I continue to look forward to coming to work on a day-to-day basis. It can be difficult to find a company that actually values and follows-through on concepts like transparency, feedback, action-oriented motions, and an empathetic leadership team, but I'm confident saying that Camunda delivers on all of that and more. Are there flaws? Sure! Every company has its dysfunction, but the dysfunctions here are very minor inconveniences compared to most companies.

      Cons

      As the company continues to grow, we struggle with the typical "who do I contact for which item?" issue that happens when you initial scale beyond "30 people sitting in a room." This is to be expected and we're working through it, slowly but surely.

      Pros

      - The technology is really good. - CEO seems intelligent and clearly cares about the company and people. - Company culture overall is kind, innovative and fast moving.

      Cons

      - Poor team management. - Lack of real experience within the senior leadership, leading to odd (not industry standard at all) and ineffective decisions as well as questionable setting of company direction. - As you'd expect in a start-up, work pressure and expectations are high. People are burning out and there doesn't seem to be a long term reward as you'd also expect.

      Camunda is pivoting for the better

      Pros

      - We're currently undergoing a cultural pivot towards a more ambitious mindset, which I've seen at other companies I've worked for and believe it's crucial for seizing the opportunity ahead of us and driving our long-term success- even if it challenges some comfort zones for those who haven't been at hypergrowth companies before. - I really like that there is significant autonomy and flexibility to manage your own work-life balance- there are periods of intense (but I find really rewarding) work, and yet I also feel like I can take the time I need in order to disconnect or even work from other places at my own discretion. - We have awesome people. My colleagues here are genuinely good, collaborative, supportive, and committed to our mutual success. I don't feel like politics comes into the way of being pragmattic and egos don't get in the way of progress. - Our CEO is one of the most authentic leaders I've ever seen leading our size of company (for anyone who has worked places where this isn't the case, you know how important this is for setting the tone for everything else at a company), and I appreciate that the leadership team is approachable/ happy to get on 1:1s and also open to feedback. - Finally, it's been said in a lot of other reviews, but we have a really strong product and market opportunity. It's nice to be at a company where the product actually delivers tangible value to so many customers. I'm also really excited about the AI wave and genuinely believe there's a huge, untapped potential for us to capture if we move quickly and put in the work needed.

      Cons

      As is natural with any company embracing rapid growth and strategic shifts, there can be periods of intense focus and evolving priorities. However, the transparent comms from my manager and leadership has helped navigate these changes, and I think it's a testament to our agility/ what will make us successful as a company long-term.
