Pros

Great team, good pay, nice managers (at least in the BU I work for). Plenty of new technologies to learn, with Gurus around you. Tons of cutting edge equipments to work on. 1 month of PTO for fresh, plus virtually unlimited choice of WFH via company paid broadband service. Top school districts around the campus.

Cons

Too many low level managers from a south Asia country and they are mean, mean, mean! Where goes the stock options? Not as well paid as Yahoo! and Google... especially by stock bonus. Relatively long working hours, although it's normal in the industry. No free lunch, like Google, and no free dinner, like Juniper.

Pros

Flexibility. Work life balance. The flexible schedule at Cisco allows one to balance family, extra cirriculars and higher eductation. Cisco is very supportive of ongoing training and higher education

Cons

Compensation. Hard to get promotions and salary raises. Even when one receives a promotions, the salary compensation for that promotion may not come until 1-2 quarters after. Bonuses are very fair though.

Pros

Cisco Systems is a stable company with lot of resources. It is a large company, so work experiment widely vary base on which group you work with and where you work. Since Cisco uses variable pay method, if you work for the “right” group, you will make very good living. It is also a very good place for young people to learn and grow.

Cons

Cisco is a very bureaucratic organization with layer of management. Most of the works are done by a small group of people and the rests just show up to collect pay checks. Most managers only care about growing head count and justify their existence. And if you are not in San Jose, you are pretty missing out on most of benefit of working at Cisco.
