      Dell - Work there for 2 years max!

      Pros

      The cafeteria is really good. The people tend to be very nice and friendly to hang out with. Austin is a great town to live in.

      Cons

      Dell is a good place to work for the first 2 years as a salesperson, especially if you start off in a transactional environment. I made almost 3x my TTC my first year due to overattainment and spiffs. Awesome, right? The problem is that when you move up, it's referred to as a "Dellmotion" - i.e. you get more responsibility but make less money. Ask any sales employee and they will agree. It's happened every year i've been there - "higher position = less money"

      Pros

      good pay, talented employees, lots of flex time

      Cons

      constant fear of being laid off, continually reducing employee benefits, extreme frustration amongst employees regarding the extravagant compensation packagages offered to senior execs and outrageous exit packages when they're fired
