Pros

Fast pacing working environment with challenging issues. Forced to learn how to deal with constant changes and, ambiguities, make quick decisions with limited information, as well as manage multiple things in parallel. You learng to work hard.

Cons

Not much sense in career path development. Management changes constantly, each with different styles, on top of different priorities the company/group has at any time, from cutting head count to building revolutionary products. Constantly receive multiple and contradicting directions from different sources. Politics has been growing very strong. What's important is not what you do but how you present and how you are perceived. Process is for the sake of having a process. People clash on one thing but leave big gap on another thing.

Pros

Resume Builder: The company is generally well respected in the marketplace. I believe that other employers recognize that surviving an excelling at Dell is really hard . When they come across former employees who have been successful, they realize that these employees will bring a winning attitude along with a drive to add value to their organizations. Talented People: Most of the people who work at Dell are top notched and share the passion for doing what is right for the organization and our customers. There is a healthy tension between the members of the cross functional teams that allows for better decision making.

Cons

Burn out: It is really a sweatshop! The company is really a global company that requires individuals to work over nearly every time zone throughout the World. There is really no downtime and one can easily become burned out. Although the company claims to be a global company, there is clearly an "Austin Centric" decision making process instead of letting teams make decisions on their own. Professional Development: The Sr Mgt team sticks to the "mantra" of you own your career without any real structure in place for individuals to successfully navigate through the company. Therefore, one is left with no real connection or loyalty to the organizations they are a part of.

Pros

401K program is pretty good. There are good people who work there.

Cons

Nonstop nickel and diming of employees to save a buck in OPEX. Employees are clearly not valued and are treated as commodities. Very much still a TON of dead wood at Dell. People surround you that are happy to be ripping down a paycheck and doing whatever...there is no drive or passion with these folks because they just want to get a check, not interested in developing themselves or a career path other than the next level to make more pay, be more secure, (because if you are a C3 or a D level employee, typically you are more protected) and get a bigger bonus. Culture of followers, no real innovation.
