      Good company to work for to gain experience but upward career promotion are limited

      Pros

      Large company with many opportunities to work in various departments for lateral movement. However, advancement/promotion within the department are limited. Company provides good work/life balance environment.

      Cons

      Currently lots of ambiguity within various organizations due to the changes at Dell. Especially in the operations group where more and more job functions are outsourced to oversea ODMs.

      Pros

      Excellent Compensation package. Many opportunities for learning and growth, especially suited for ambitious and hard working young individuals. Depending of group or area of work, can be also a rewarding experience being exposed to the details of the enterprise, and dealing on a global scale.

      Cons

      As a former employee Dell was once a great place to work absolutly great! However, with very unethical Mid Management and a history of unethical executives Dell lost focus on it’s employees. As a result the good talent has left DELL. With the past management stucture DELL also lost focus on the customer, which they have begun to slowy regain. Yet, they will continue to struggle until they can once again make DELL a good place to work.

      Pros

      Extremely flexible work / life balance. Huge opportunities to make a difference, if you care to. Money isn't the issue in persuing large projects and initiatives, it's generally whether or not the technology even exists to get the job done at this scale. It's nice to be able to not have to worry about whether or not there's budget, if you're even somewhat forward thinking, you can plan for and make it happen.

      Cons

      Acclimating to Dell can take some time. It's kind of "Here's your cube, your laptop, good luck"... Don't like your boss? Don't worry, we reorg every 3-4 months. It can get really frustrating with staff rotating and reorgs constantly occurring, you get really good at recommunicating the same information 50 times every other month and things can take ten times longer to get done as a result.
