It's a job...

Pros

It pays, did not seem to mess with hours I worked.

Cons

Management gets the lions share of hours (whether they want them or not) while out of season, associates are lucky to get 15 hours in a week. In season it's ok, but out of season, expect to do the same amount of work you'd do in a 40 hour week in season, compressed into 10-20 hours. If you can't watch the register, keep the front clean, and stock/recover near the back of the store at the same time without any customers waiting, and without leaving anything unfinished, expect threats of write-ups. You are expected to have full availability, even out of season, meaning NO second jobs, or your hours will be around 0-5/wk. Be ready to be called in on days off, and the schedule to change at any manager's/keyholder's whim. And if you don't get promoted to keyholder within 1 month (You aren't supposed to be eligible until 90 days after your hire date), expect management to pass you up for a new hire who isn't fully trained to handle the register, let alone have keys. (Though keyholder is just a ton of extra work for almost no extra pay.) Be ready to be expected to racially profile if you live in a medium-bad neighborhood. Expect slightly above minimum wage, but not enough to reasonably live off of out-of-season.

Pros

Decent pay Working with the public

Cons

Very regimented in accomplishing tasks in a certain time frame but no additional hours given to accomplish them. Upper management thinks everyone is stealing.

Pros

Get paid every week. Work day usually moves fast because you are almost always busy. Most of my coworkers and customers are very nice.

Cons

Cashiers get minimum wage, leads $1 above that, assistant managers a little above that. Pay is very low and expectations are high, often unrealistic. In my case the DM does not seem to care how things are done and allows management to get away with murder. Your hours will get cut repeatedly, you may have 35 one week and 20 the next. I currently work 6 days a week at 3 different stores to get 35 hours. 32 hours is considered full time unless you're a store manager.
