Great place to grow - accept the grind - Senior Technical Program Manager Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

Place is a fantastic place to learn. So many experiences to gain, ways to think, and dive into cloud technology. High operational pace that challenges you to learn to balance your priorities both within and outside of work. Find the right team and leadership will empower you to flourish as an individual. Career path is in your own hands - own it and chase your goals hard.

Cons

Accept the grind. It's not for everyone. No cruise control here. Everyone has high expectations and you do not have much time to recover. Though individuals are empathetic, the demands of the business can create tough environment where sacrificing personal time feels necessary. Need to learn to defend your mental health and personal time. Your experiences may vary depending on organization(s) and leader(s).

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
