Pros
- H&M is a brilliant place to start your career. If you're ambitious and willing to dive in/develop, you could get the opportunity to be part of great projects where you'll learn lots and get great experience for your CV. - Opportunity to work across sister brands (e.g. Weekday, Arket, Stories) to get different career experiences over the years. - Work life balance / good team vibes depends on which department and sister brand you're working at. Some are more friendly than others! - I've been lucky to have some lovely colleagues throughout the years who became part of my good friends / network here in Stockholm. If you're in a friendly team, the work culture is a big positive and a big reason people choose to come back to work for H&M.
Cons
- In my opinion, H&M is a great place to START your career. Once you have a few years experience and want to progress in salary/title for what tasks you perform, it can be tricky to formally become a senior. I observed that people usually left H&M after a few years, worked externally at a different company (where salaries are usually more competitive), then a few years later re-entered H&M in a senior position at a higher pay level for their skills/years of experience/usually higher pay as an external hire. - I went through multiple job re-organisations during the years working at H&M. Having to worry about job security year after year after year takes a toll.
